3D-Kennzeichen GmbH, headquartered in Passau, is the sole manufacturer and patent holder of 3D license plates made of high-performance plastic. The blanks and letters are manufactured at the company headquarters at Spitalhofstraße 94; in-house injection molding tools are available for the lengths 520 mm, 463 mm and 410 mm. The plates are fitted with individually attached, precisely formed 3D letters and are available in the surface finishes Matt, High Gloss and Carbon gloss/matt; carbon looks are created via water transfer printing followed by painting, high gloss through clear coating. In addition, the Easy Fix Ultra Velcro mount and, since 2024, two-line motorcycle plates are produced. The plastic license plates are DIN CERTCO-certified (register 2M11403/15) and are eligible for registration in accordance with the FZV. Distribution takes place via the company's own online shop and a network of around 70 embossing offices in Germany; certificates and cover letters for registration authorities are also provided.
