Company
A+O Kunststofftechnik is a family business from Upper Franconia founded in 1994, specializing in the development and manufacture of plastic closure tops for swing-top closures and sealing discs. Its customers are primarily the beverage industry (beer, wine, sparkling wine and spirits) as well as the food packaging and cosmetics sectors. Using the injection molding process on a total of 45 injection molding machines, the company produces tops in various shapes and colors, 2K and 3K closure tops, and sealing discs in all sizes, hole diameters, colors and Shore hardnesses. The material formulation based on thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) has been tested for food-law compliance by institutes such as Fresenius and Nehring; the seals are also suitable for products containing fats, acids and oils. The range of services includes conception, development, mold making, production, printing of closure tops with logos, logistics and recycling of production raw materials. Production takes place at the Altenkunstadt and Schwarzach near Kulmbach sites for the Western European market.

Materials and Processes
Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE)
Basis of the in-house developed, food-law tested formulation for sealing discs with high barrier and permeation properties against oxygen.
High-tech plastic for closure tops
Material for plastic closure tops that have almost completely replaced porcelain for economic and hygienic reasons.
2K and 3K multi-component injection molding
Process for swing-top closures that can be attached directly to the bottle without additional assembly of the seal.
