Traffic Barrier Technology since 1882
A. RAWIE GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1882 by Franz Rawie in Osnabrück and is considered the inventor of the buffer stop (Patent 1909). The family-owned company develops and manufactures dynamic rail safety systems for mainline railways, subways, and trams, traffic barriers (manual or electric, including horizontal barriers with lifting technology for highway tunnels), and access systems such as turnstiles, rotary barriers, and swing doors. The products are predominantly manufactured in-house from steel as custom-made items; the welding of steel structures is performed according to EN 1090-2 EXC3. Customers include Deutsche Bahn AG (Q1-certified supplier) and rail and infrastructure operators in over 40 countries worldwide, where the company is represented by more than 40 foreign representatives. With over 50 patents and approximately 70 employees at the headquarters in Osnabrück, Rawie is among the established providers of traffic control technology. Starting in 2026, the company is moving its location to Rieste in the Lower Saxony Park, to a 18,000 m² property with 4,800 m² of production space.
