About AbbatiaLabs
AbbatiaLabs is a company specializing in drug delivery devices, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It develops and markets POWDOSE, a patented dosing and primary packaging system for oral solid dosage forms that enables exact dose titration by the end user. The two-part device allows the desired dose to be pre-set via a ring and the medicinal product to be dispensed via a turn knob; it is suitable for multiparticulate formulations, minitablets and granulate-based medicines. The housing consists of a limited number of environmentally friendly, sustainable polymers; an integrable desiccant protects the medicine from moisture. In cooperation with pharmaceutical partners, including Adare Pharma Solutions (Diffucaps technology), co-development programs are carried out to adapt dose ranges. Target indications include pediatric weight-based dosing, neurology, ADHD, cardiovascular diseases and antibiotics.

Materials & Processes
Sustainable Polymers
Environmentally friendly, sustainable polymers for the POWDOSE device housing with a limited number of components.
Integrable Desiccant
Desiccant integrable in the device protects the medicine from moisture and increases stability.
Diffucaps Sugar Spheres size 30 (500–700 µm)
Polymer-membrane multiparticulates for testing dosing accuracy in the POWDOSE system.
Diffucaps Sugar Spheres size 18/20 (800–1,000 µm)
Larger granulate for validating the dosing device across different formulations.

Quality
Dosing accuracy is tested with a calibrated KERN F1 precision scale (240 g capacity, 0.001 g precision); the test criterion is RSD < 7 % or deviation of all doses within ±25 % of the mean, with reference to the European Pharmacopoeia 2.9.40.
