Specialist in wheel fastening and threaded connections
ABC Umformtechnik GmbH & Co. KG is a specialist in custom wheel fastening systems and threaded connection solutions for the automotive industry and its system suppliers. At the Gevelsberg site, around 350 million parts are produced annually by approximately 301 employees; in 2024, around 17,500 tonnes of steel were processed with revenue of approx. €80 million. Manufacturing covers the entire value chain: in-house wire drawing (wire Ø4–Ø28 mm), cold forming on 28 forming presses (M3–M20, parts up to approx. 300 mm in length), thread rolling, heat treatment in continuous furnaces, machining post-processing on turning and milling machines, zinc flake coating with TopCoats, assembly on special-purpose machines, as well as 100% inspection and packaging. The products are predominantly high-safety components, e.g. for chassis, drivetrain and engine mounting, and are manufactured exclusively to customer specifications without a standard catalogue. Customers include international brand manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Daimler Truck. The company, spun off from the ABC Group in 2003, has belonged to the international FAWER Group (Changchun/China) since 2021/22.

Materials and processes
Steel wire Ø4–Ø28 mm
Base material for screw bolts and formed parts; wires from Ø11 mm are drawn in-house in the company's own wire drawing plant.
Cold forming
Production of screw bolts and formed parts M3–M20 on 28 forming presses, largest press 400 t press force, parts up to approx. 300 mm in length.
Rolling
Threads, knurling, grooves, special threads and thread-forming screws; combination with washers during rolling is possible.
Heat treatment
Hardening and tempering in in-house continuous furnaces to the required strength.
Machining
Post-processing of contours and tolerances that cannot be produced by forming, on turning and milling machines.
Zinc flake coating
Corrosion protection with TopCoats on in-house coating lines.
Assembly
Joining of two or more components by crimping, bonding or clamping on special-purpose machines.
