About Acktar
Acktar Ltd. has been developing and producing light-absorbing black coatings based on vacuum deposition (PVD/sputtering) since 1994, as well as black foils and films for stray-light suppression from EUV through UV, VIS, NIR to LWIR. The coatings are fully inorganic, binder-free, only a few micrometers thick (typically 0.3–14 µm), very low-outgassing and thermally stable from −269 °C to 450 °C. They are applied directly to customer parts or supplied as coated foils (rolls, sheets, die-cut parts, with or without adhesive). As a one-stop shop, Acktar additionally offers mechanical manufacturing such as etching, turning, milling and laser cutting with partners, and delivers ready-to-use, blackened drawing parts. The custom-designed inverted sputtering systems allow combined line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight coating. Main customers are the space industry (ESA/NASA projects such as James Webb Space Telescope, Bepi Colombo, Sentinel-4), optics/photonics, semiconductors, electronics, automotive, biotechnology and medical technology. Production takes place at the headquarters in Kiryat Gat (Israel) with cleanrooms; the subsidiary ACM Coatings GmbH is located in Naumburg near Jena (Germany), and Acktar Japan also exists.
