About us
Agrargenossenschaft Grünlichtenberg e.G. is a registered cooperative based in Kriebstein OT Grünlichtenberg in the Mittweida Zschopau valley, around 30 km northwest of Chemnitz. It was founded in 1990 from four Agricultural Production Cooperatives; in 1996 another cooperative joined the association, so that five farms form the framework of today's company. The cooperative cultivates 2,950 hectares of land, of which 2,550 hectares are arable land and 400 hectares are grassland. Cereals, rapeseed and potatoes are grown on the arable land, while fodder grass for dairy cattle production with own rearing is produced on the grassland; the cattle herd comprises on average around 650 cows. The subsidiary Grünlichtenberg Natur-Energie GmbH operates biogas plants at three locations each with 537 kW output, and Grünlichtenberg Bio-Landwirtschafts GmbH manages around 250 hectares of insect-friendly ISA areas. Around 55 employees and apprentices work with 45 agricultural machines at four locations in Saxony.
