About A&H
AirWork & Heliseilerei GmbH (A&H), based in Immensee (CH), develops and manufactures cargo suspension and lifting gear, load securing devices and human external cargo (HEC) rescue equipment for helicopters, drones, space applications and fixed-wing aircraft. The product range includes short and long lines, HESLO lines (manual and electric), cargo nets, big bags, special fittings for primary and secondary cargo hooks as well as accessories. Production is largely done by hand in Immensee: braiding, splicing, winding, rigging, sewing, riveting, crimping, soldering and screwing; since 2020, four in-house braiders have been in operation. Materials used are polyester, HMPE, polyamide, steel and wire rope; steel and plastic molded parts are partly manufactured by subcontractors. A&H is an approved manufacturer under EASA Part 21 G (POA CH.21.G.0022), STC holder for its own products, an "approved supplier" for the Airbus NH90 and CH-53, and a NATO-STANAG-registered supplier (SAC17). The company delivers worldwide with EASA Form 1 or COC and, in addition to manufacturing, offers engineering, prototype construction, inspection services and maintenance.

Materials & Processes
Polyester
Low elongation (<2%) under load; used for HESLO lines and lifting gear for helicopters.
High Modulus Polyethylene (HMPE)
High-strength synthetic rope with low elongation for highly stressed short and long lines.
Polyamide (Nylon)
Textile rope material for lifting gear and equipment parts.
Steel
Fittings and steel parts for cargo hooks and lifting gear; inspection via magnetic particle testing (fluxing).
Wire rope
Used for lifting gear and lines with low elongation.
Rope braiding (Braiding)
Manufacture of braided ropes on four in-house braiders (24-250, 32-100, 16-180, 48-100); further processing done by hand.
Splicing
Manual end connection of textile ropes (PES, HMPE, polyamide).
Crimping, soldering, screwing
Connection of aviation connectors (socket/plug); about 90% of the work done by crimping.
