Alb. Gommann GmbH & Co. KG is a seventh-generation family business founded in 1810 in Remscheid and is one of the oldest manufacturers of machine knives. The company produces saws and machine knives for the wood, recycling, plastics and packaging industries as well as mill knives — including knives for root reduction machines, chipping plants, shredder and granulator systems, reversible knives, counter knives, cutting crowns and tooth segments. Production takes place in various steel grades to sample, drawing or sketch, complemented by heat treatment (hardening and multiple tempering), coatings, manual straightening and precision grinding on CNC grinding machines. In addition, the company offers a grinding service with a maximum grinding length of 6,500 mm and the regrinding of anvil rings up to 1,200 mm in diameter. Production takes place exclusively at the main site in Remscheid-Hasten; an extensive raw material warehouse enables short delivery times, and standard knives are available ex stock.
