About Bergkäserei Marbach
Bergkäserei Marbach AG is a Swiss family business in Marbach LU at 871 m above sea level in the Prealps of the Entlebuch, Switzerland's only UNESCO Biosphere. It all began in 1981 when Heidi and Christian Jaun took over the village dairy Wald near Schangnau. Today, nearly 30 employees process around 12 million litres of milk per year into approximately 1,000 tonnes of dairy products. A broad range is produced from top-quality raw milk: hard and soft cheeses, mozzarella made from mountain milk, the first Swiss buffalo mozzarella, burrata, raclette, fondue, processed cheese, as well as buffalo meat specialities and regional products. Production combines modern infrastructure with traditional recipes; 100 percent of the heat energy comes from a wood-chip heating system, complemented by an extensive photovoltaic installation. The operation includes a retail shop, an experience dairy with visitor gallery, a bistro as well as event and seminar rooms.
