About GOT Jena

GOT Gesellschaft für Oberflächentechnik mbH in Jena is a medium-sized job shop for surface finishing, established in 1992 from the state-owned company Carl Zeiss Jena. At its Jena-Göschwitz industrial park site, the company processes components made of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium, brass, plastics, technical glass, and ceramics with around 90 employees. The scope of services includes mechanical pretreatment (polishing, belt sanding, deburring, glass bead, carbide, and steel shot blasting), electroplating (phosphating of steel, technical and decorative anodizing, SurTec 650 passivation of aluminum, electropolishing, and passivation of stainless steel, plasma chemical oxidation PCO Black of magnesium), wet painting, powder coating, as well as screen printing, tampographic printing, and laser marking. Additionally, GOT offers engineering, jig and tool design, and assembly – from custom single pieces to series production. Customers include Zeiss, Fresenius, and Leica; past industries include medical technology, optical equipment manufacturing, metrology, mechanical and plant engineering, electrical and digital industries, defense, as well as the aerospace industry. Quality management is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Since 2019, GOT has invested around 10% of its revenue annually in automation, energy efficiency, and sustainability, including robot-controlled sanding and painting systems, an anodizing automatic line, a

Materials and Processes

Stahl

Steel (excluding Stainless Steel)

Is phosphated; blasting and coating are also used as pre- and final treatment.

Edelstahl

Stainless Steel (high alloy, high chrome, nickel, and molybdenum content)

Electropolished, passivated, and chemically blackened for smooth, corrosion-resistant, or anti-reflection surfaces.

Aluminium

Aluminum (all casting and wrought alloys)

Anodized technically and decoratively, passivated with SurTec 650 (chromium (VI)-free, RoHS compliant), and soda pickled.

AZ91/AZ31

Magnesium AZ91 and AZ31

Plasma chemical oxidation PCO12 black/white/grey for hard, corrosion-resistant layers.

Messing

Brass with Cu < 58 % (lead-containing alloys)

Blue tinning creates a dark blue, anti-reflective conversion layer.

Kunststoff

Plastics

Wet painting, tampographic printing, and mechanical pretreatment for decorative and functional surfaces.

Glas

Technical Glass

Glass bead and carbide blasting up to 4000 x 2000 x 2000 mm.

Keramik

Ceramics

Laser marking for non-destructive identification.
