Härterei MEWA GmbH was founded in 1995 in Heilbad Heiligenstadt as a contract heat treatment shop and is a heat treatment specialist for mass-produced parts and tools from all sectors of industry, trades and commerce. Its service portfolio includes hardening and tempering, toughening (quench and tempering), through-hardening, protective-gas hardening, carbonitride hardening, various annealing processes, nitrocarburizing with pre- and post-oxidation, gas nitriding, vacuum hardening and case hardening. Mass-produced parts are treated on continuous belt furnaces and fully automatic multi-purpose chamber furnace lines; the heat treatment of tools is carried out in chamber furnaces with combustible protective gas or in vacuum furnaces with nitrogen, high-pressure quenching and oil quenching under protective gas (max. furnace size 900 x 600 x 600 mm). Services include customer consulting on material selection, process technology, failure analysis and design support, as well as materials testing in an in-house testing laboratory. A quality management system certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 ensures product-related inspection instructions, documentation and traceability. Through regular investment in equipment and testing technology as well as structural expansions, the company is established as a heat treatment partner located directly on the A 38 in central Germany.
