Holzindustrie Dresden GmbH (HID) is a service and manufacturing company for industrial and export packaging headquartered in Heidenau near Dresden. Founded in 1899, the company designs and manufactures custom wooden packaging to HPE standard for transport by air, sea and road, including transport crates and transport skids, which are partially automated using nailing machines. In addition, the company has a structural steel workshop for retaining and securing elements made of steel as well as its own drying chamber for heat treatments according to IPPC ISPM 15. The range of services includes preservation using the desiccant method in PE or aluminium composite film, packaging, marking and documentation, storage and order picking including customs clearance, as well as container stowage and cargo securing according to CTU and HPE guidelines. At the approximately 9,000 sqm service centre with crane runways up to 20 tonnes, HID serves Saxon mechanical and plant engineering companies as well as exporting companies from various industries; mobile packing teams are also deployed on site at customers' premises.

The packaging complies with the HPE standard for transport packaging matched to loads and stresses; since 2014, HID has been approved by the German Aviation Authority (Luftfahrt-Bundesamt) as a regulated agent for packaging and certified as a packer under EU air cargo security rules. Employees hold professional packer qualifications and regularly participate in further training.
