About Horst Uhlig GmbH

Horst Uhlig GmbH from Neuenrade specialises in the aluminium permanent mould casting (gravity die casting) manufacturing process. Its range of services includes foundry consulting, the design and manufacture of the casting tools (permanent moulds made of cast iron or steel), series production of castings and their extensive downstream machining up to the ready-to-install component. Permanent mould casting is a gravity casting process in which the mould is filled manually or with automatic assistance; the process produces dimensionally accurate castings with good surface quality, wall thicknesses from 3.0 mm and machining allowances of 1.0 to 1.5 mm on fitting and sealing surfaces. By default, the company casts the alloys EN AC-43000 (AlSi10Mg(a)), EN AC-44200 (AlSi12(a)), EN AC-47000 (AlSi12(Cu)) and PERALUMAN 36 (AlMg3Si); other common alloys in accordance with EN AC-40000 ff. are available on request. Permanent mould castings, with a suitable choice of alloy, can be heat treated without restriction, are weldable and can be anodised. Owing to the cost of the permanent moulds, the process is suitable for medium and large series; the output of a permanent mould is approximately 20,000 castings.
