About InterCal
InterCal Austria GmbH is the operating holding company of all lime businesses of the long-established Wietersdorfer Group, which have been managed under the InterCal umbrella brand since January 2021. At five sites in Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, limestones and quicklimes in various grain sizes, hydrated lime and customer-specific lime blends are produced for industrial and agricultural applications. The value chain ranges from limestone extraction in its own quarries, through processing in washing plants and lime burning in modern kilns (including Maerz GGR, max. 330 t of quicklime/day in Peggau), to hydration and grinding into various grain sizes and powders. Fields of application include agriculture and forestry, chemicals, iron and steel, environmental protection (flue gas and wastewater treatment), civil engineering, ground stabilization, as well as paper and pulp. The lime kiln in Peggau is being gradually converted to CO2-neutral biogenic fuels; in Zagorje, a wood gasification plant reduces primary energy consumption.

Quicklime (CaO)
Lime burned in the lime kiln, among other things as a reaction and purification agent in the steel industry.
Hydrated lime
Produced by slaking-water hydration, e.g. for flue gas and wastewater treatment.
Dolomitic lime
Converted to dolomitic limestone in Sirač since 1995.
Calcitic limestone
Calcitic variant used as starting material for various end products.
Stabilization lime
For soil consolidation in civil engineering, matched to the respective geology.

Lime for agricultural and forestry applications as well as animal feed.
