About LBBZ GmbH

Laser Bearbeitungs- und Beratungszentrum NRW GmbH (LBBZ) was founded in 1991 as a spin-off of the Aachen universities and specialises in sheet metal processing using laser technology. The portfolio includes laser cutting, laser welding including 3D remote laser welding, laser hardening using the LACID process, 3D laser processing as well as conventional sheet metal processing with bending, folding and robot-assisted joining. In addition, the company offers stud welding, resistance welding, MIG/MAG/TIG welding, robotic adhesive bonding and surface finishing through cathodic dip painting, powder coating and wet painting. Materials processed are steel sheet and tubes for load-bearing steel structures. Customers come from the automotive, machinery and toolmaking, agricultural and safety engineering, medical technology and defence sectors – from prototype construction via body-in-white manufacturing to series production in all lot sizes. Complete production takes place in-house on a 120,000 m² company site in Geilenkirchen; a branch plant in Ingolstadt processes sheet metal and hardens tools for the automotive sector. Research cooperations with institutes of RWTH Aachen and the Fraunhofer Society feed into ongoing R&D projects such as DIPOOL, MultiPROmobil, ESKODIA and FlexSbus-LR.
