About the WIR! alliance LASER.region.AACHEN
The WIR! alliance LASER.region.AACHEN is a registered association with its office in Herzogenrath and a funding project of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMFTR) for structural change in the lignite mining region. The association networks more than 50 industrial partners from all areas of laser technology, RWTH and FH Aachen, research institutions, as well as education, funding and social partners. Together, new laser-based processes and products, joint technology platforms, service concepts and training and further education concepts are developed. The spectrum ranges from laser material processing and laser micromachining to powder bed and wire-based additive manufacturing, glass processing and joining technology, through to testing technology, automation and control technology. As the central competence hub, the alliance brokers industrial solutions using laser technology and supports companies in implementing new production processes in the LASER.region.AACHEN.

WDR Lokalzeit Aachen broadcast a TV feature on the laser technology hotspot on 23.02.2021; the alliance grew to 30 industrial partners, 8 structural/social partners and 3 coordinators.
