About the Ludwig Bölkow Campus

The Ludwig Bölkow Campus (LBC) is a research and technology site for industry and science in the fields of aerospace and security technology in Taufkirchen, southeast of Munich. It was founded in 2012 and is named after the engineer and entrepreneur Ludwig Bölkow. The campus is operated by Ludwig Bölkow Campus GmbH, a joint venture of Airbus, IABG and Siemens, together with the association Munich Aerospace as representative of the scientific partners. Academic institutions, start-ups, spin-offs and industrial companies are based on the campus, including Bauhaus Luftfahrt, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Munich University of Applied Sciences, the Technical University of Munich and the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. Research focuses on four areas: Green Aerospace, Public Security, Autonomous Systems and Integrated Systems. The goal is the transfer of research results into market-ready products; since 2014, a branch of the ESA Business Incubation Centre has been located on the campus. The campus is also home to the TUM School of Aeronautics, Astronautics and Geodesy.
