About Nordic Rail Service

Nordic Rail Service GmbH (NRS), founded in 2003 and headquartered in Lübeck, is a rail transport company and a 100% subsidiary of LHG Service-Gesellschaft mbH. The company provides rail transport services, supplies locomotive drivers, shunting staff, guides and train conductors (Wagenmeister), and carries out shunting, short- and medium-distance operations as well as long-distance freight train services. Since 2004, NRS has operated a wagon workshop near Lübeck main station, where more than 1,000 freight wagons are serviced annually; the workshop has two 70-metre-long inspection pits and is recognised as a certified welding shop for the repair of rail vehicles. As a railway infrastructure company (EIU), NRS maintains around 60 kilometres of track of the Lübeck port railway, including sidings as well as signalling and telecommunication systems. Its customers are rail transport companies and wagon keepers; the main client is LHG Service-Gesellschaft mbH.
