About us
The Offene Kirche St. Nikolai zu Kiel is a Protestant church congregation at the Alter Markt in Kiel's city centre. The listed church building dates back several centuries and is open year-round for services, concerts, exhibitions and encounter programmes. The programme includes, among other things, the weekly concert series "Die Halbe Stunde", Evensongs with the SanktNikolaiChor, concerts for children and the café "coffee to stay". Paid staff and volunteers jointly shape the church's and cultural life, from pastoral care and church education to the duty roster, in which the church is kept open for visitors. The congregation is also socially engaged and works on preserving the building; the renovation of the west façade and tower is budgeted at over 2 million euros.
