Otto Kühnen is a family-owned sales and representation company founded in 1896, headquartered in Vienna. The product program comprises machines and accessories for the textile industry (spinning, weaving, knitting, finishing and nonwovens), plants for plastics recycling as well as compounding and masterbatch production such as twin-screw extruders and single-screw recycling lines, plus dosing, conveying and classifying screen machines for the paper, food, pharmaceutical and plastics industries. In addition, raw materials, auxiliaries and intermediate products such as staple fibers, specialty yarns, dyes, pigments and functional chemicals are sold. Historically, the company began with the in-house manufacture of OTALO spinning cylinder aprons and spinning tapes made from oil-resistant rubber. History
- 1896
Founded by Otto Kühnen as a representation firm for textile machines in the territory of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy; also sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers under the AUDACES brand.
- 1919
Reorientation under changed political circumstances; branch office Brno in the 30s; takeover by Dr. Ing. Alois Kühnen (second generation); start of manufacture of OTALO spinning cylinder aprons made of oil-resistant rubber.
- 1946
Adaptation to the new political situation; expansion to Yugoslavia and Poland.
- 1970
Heinz Kühnen (third generation) takes over the company management.
- 1989
Establishment of local offices before the fall of the Iron Curtain: first Prague, then Warsaw, later Lodz.

Introduction of the OTALO spinning tapes.
