About Rapid Manufacturing AG
Rapid Manufacturing AG manufactures components, prototypes and series parts using additive and conventional processes. The portfolio includes selective laser sintering (SLS), continuous fiber fabrication (CFF) with continuous fibers made of carbon, glass and Kevlar, selective laser melting (SLM) for metal components, vacuum casting for plastic prototypes and small series, injection molding for mass production, and CNC machining of metal and plastic. Through an express process with reduced build height, next-day delivery is possible. The company provides consulting on technical and strategic questions of additive manufacturing, offers design support, training and rapid quoting, and is part of the Virtuelle Fabrik (Virtual Factory), a specialist network of manufacturing experts. Customers include, among others, Wingtra (surveying drones) and Ascento. In 2024, the portfolio was expanded through collaboration with an Indian partner. Production and administration are located in Rümlang near Zurich.

Materials and Processes
Selective Laser Sintering
Layer-by-layer melting of plastic powder by laser for prototypes and series parts up to large-scale series.
Continuous Fiber Fabrication
Filament extrusion with continuous fibers made of carbon, glass or Kevlar for high-strength functional parts that can replace aluminum components.
Selective Laser Melting
Manufacture of complex metal components with high density and excellent mechanical properties from fine metal powder.
Vacuum Casting
Production of high-quality plastic prototypes and small series based on a 3D-printed master model in silicone molds.
Injection Molding
Mass production of plastic components with consistent quality, including toolmaking.
CNC Machining
Precise individual and series parts made of metal and plastic using computer-controlled machine tools.
Polyamide (among others FS3200PA-F, PA 11)
SLS powder with a tensile strength of 42 MPa and elongation at break of 25–40 % for stable yet flexible components.
ABS
Injection molding material used, among other things, for components such as truck grills.
Nylon + GF
Glass-fiber-reinforced nylon for assembly parts in injection molding.
PEEK
High-performance thermoplastic for demanding injection molding applications.
