About Rixdorfer Schmiede
Rixdorfer Schmiede (Böck GbR) is a craft manufactory located in Berlin-Neukölln at Richardplatz and was first mentioned in a land survey document in 1624. The company operates as a goldsmith and cutlery workshop, producing items by hand using a hammer, anvil, and forge: hand-forged kitchen knives and country knives made of carbon steel and Damascus steel (over 240 layers, created by forge welding and folding), jewelry from 925 silver and gold, as well as wrought iron items such as door knockers, hooks, and bottle openers. Martin Böck, a master craftsman in the smithing trade since 2000 and a journeyman certified as a Cutting Tool Mechanic in 1996, forges his own blades; the company is regarded as the last Berlin master workshop that still forges its own blades. Furthermore, special custom orders are fulfilled according to customer requests, a sharpening and honing service for knives, scissors, garden tools, and implements (nationwide via mail-in service through partners), and blacksmithing courses, workshops, and an open workshop are offered. Since 2020, the ClassRIX line has existed as a separate series of knives with handles made from local woods.
