About us

ROTOR TOOL AG in Oetwil am See develops and produces high-precision clamping and centering solutions for modern manufacturing. The product range includes live (rotating) centers with Morse tapers MK 1 to MK 7 as well as metric tapers and cylindrical shanks, fixed carbide centers for grinding, measuring and inspection, and precision clamping chucks in rotating and stationary versions, complemented by accessories such as air supply tubes, attached jaws, steel flanges and recessing devices. Manufacturing includes cylindrical, internal cylindrical and universal cylindrical grinding, CNC milling and CNC turning in steel and carbide; special centers achieve a maximum radial runout deviation of 0.002 mm. Customers come from mechanical engineering, grinding technology, turning technology, toolmaking, medical technology and precision mechanics. The company traces back to the ROTOR center patented in 1926 and has operated as ROTOR TOOL since 1995.

History

  1. 1926

ROTOR center patented in Switzerland as the world's first live counter center (adjustable needle bearings, disc spring to protect the axial bearing).

  2. 1927

The Scherler family bought the ROTOR patent and founded a manufacturing operation; exports to England, France and Austria.

  3. 1941

After expiry of patent protection the Scherler siblings parted ways; Hans Scherler produced under the product name Favor.
