Schkeuditzer Metallveredelung GmbH is a medium-sized surface coating company based in Schkeuditz near Leipzig. The company was founded in 1991 and employs around 70 staff, including ten apprentices. Its services include electroplated zinc plating using the rack and barrel processes, tin plating using the rack process, anodizing (anodic oxidation) and chromium-free pickling passivation of aluminium. Base materials are steel, zinc die-cast, aluminium and copper. Depending on the process, components up to 6.050 mm in length and up to 850 kg in individual weight can be processed. The plant is equipped with two zinc rack automatic lines, one zinc barrel automatic line, two anodizing lines and one tin rack line. Customers come from the automotive supply industry, plant engineering, the rail vehicle, electrical and furniture industries, photovoltaics, switchgear manufacturing as well as window and facade construction. The company is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 and holds the QUALANOD licence for anodizing in the architecture sector. An in-house laboratory monitors coating thicknesses and baths; powder coating and wet painting are also offered as a one-stop solution via partners.

Materials and processes
Electroplated zinc plating
Corrosion protection for steel using rack and barrel processes with subsequent passivation, chromating or sealing.
Electroplated tin plating
Improves corrosion protection, solderability and contact resistance of copper and steel components.
Anodizing (anodic oxidation)
Creates a highly resistant oxide layer on aluminium with colour options EV1, EV2/EV3, EV6 and C31–C35.
Pickling passivation
Chromium-free conversion coating of aluminium to stabilise surface resistance and improve the adhesion of adhesive bonds.
Steel
Base material for electroplated zinc plating and tin plating.

The company is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 (initial certification 1999) and holds the QUALANOD licence 657 for sulphuric acid-based anodizing in the architecture sector. Quality assurance includes traceability of production processes, monitoring and documentation of coating thicknesses as well as process and bath monitoring in its own laboratory.
