Volke Entwicklungsring GmbH, headquartered in Wolfsburg, is a provider of engineering services for the German automotive industry. The company delivered turnkey projects for German OEM automobile manufacturers, covering all services from design to vehicle prototyping. The range of services includes the design of machinery, equipment and automotives, the provision of technical personnel, as well as the visualization of engineering projects using 3D animation, stereoscopy, VR and real-time applications. A key focus is the creation of digital prototypes (Digital Mock-Up), in which data from various engineering sources is merged into fully digital prototypes that can be tested and optimized without elaborate physical manufacturing. To manage project and product data, Volke deployed the eMatrix software from MatrixOne in 2000. In addition to its Wolfsburg headquarters with more than 400 engineers, the group maintained engineering centers in Munich, Zwickau and the Czech Republic, as well as a location in St. Florian, Austria. The group employed over 2000 staff (as of 2000).
