ZOM Oberflächenbearbeitung GmbH, based in Magdeburg, is a specialist in the manufacture, repair and custom production of cutting and forming tools. Its service portfolio includes CNC grinding (among other things of gear hobbing cutters and broach needles), conventional grinding of components for mechanical engineering and the automotive industry, sharpening of machine knives, polishing and high-gloss polishing of forming tools, plasma nitriding and PVD coating of cutting and forming tools. In addition, the company offers metrology services, including three-coordinate measurement, form measurement and the measurement of cutting geometries. Customers include companies from the automotive and automotive supply industries, general mechanical engineering, the plastics processing industry, the textile industry, precision mechanics, optics and medical technology – including Volkswagen, thyssenkrupp, ENERCON and Schüco. More than 450 customers in Germany, Austria and Poland use the range of services. Founded in 1993, the company employs more than 60 staff and is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.

Quality and Certifications
Production testing is carried out within the certified quality management system to ISO 9001:2015 using a coordinate measuring machine and a form measuring machine from Mitutoyo as well as the ZOLLER genius 3S universal measuring machine, which captures over 35 parameters with micron precision and transfers measurement data to the grinding machines. Form and position tolerances are tested to DIN EN ISO 1101; in addition, metrology services are offered to customers.
